Grammar in use 初级 Present_1

  • "My favourite colour is blue."
  • positive
  • negative (+ not)
  • that's = that is there's = there is here's = here is
• {2} am/is/are (questions)
  • Are you a student?
  • Answers
    • Yes or no =>一般questions
    • "wh-" questions =>特殊
  • Question
    • Where/What/Who/How/Why...? =>还原
      • Where is your mother? Is she at home?可还原为 Your mother is at home?
      • Where are you from? Canada.可还原为 You are from Canada?
  • Short answers
• {3} I am doing (present continuous)
  • am/is/are +-ing
    • something is happening now:
    • Please notice the spelling(→ Appendix 5), we will organize this role separately.
• {4} are you doing? (present continuous questions)
  • Questions
    • Where/What/Who/How/Why is/are +subject + -ing?
      • Where are they going?
  • Short answers
• {5} I do/work/like etc. (present simple)

  • We use the present simple for things [that are true in general, or for things that happen sometimes or all the time].
  • always/never/often/usually/sometimes + present simple
    • 副词：实前be后
      • I never eat
      • I am never
• {6} I don't (present simple negative)
  • • we use don't/doesn't + infinitive(don't like etc.)
• {7} Do you...? (present simple questions)
  • Questions
    • do/does + subject + infinitive
    • "Wh/How" + do/does subject + always/usually + infinitive
  • What do you do? = What's your job?
  • Short answers
• {8} I am doing (present continuous) and I do (present simple)
  • I am doing = now, at the time of speaking
  • I do = in general, all the time or sometimes:
  • these verbs do not use the present continuous
