Maybe you should/ could do sth. 情态动词should&could 的用法 (1 )should 的用法:should 为情态动词,表示劝告、建议,意为“应该”,它和其他情态动词一样,没有人称和数的变化,后接动词原形,其否定形式为shouldn't 。 eg.Maybe she should say sorry to you . 也许她应该跟你说声对不起。 (2 )could 的用法:情态动词could 既是can 的过去式,表示过去的能力,又可以表示谨慎、客气的建议,后接动词原形,其否定形式为couldn't 。 eg.You could go out and buy her some medicine .

状语从句—状语从句就是在句子中作状语的成分。状语从句分成好几种,如时间状语从句,原因状语从句,条件状语从句,结果状语从句,目的状语从句等,本单元重点讲述以下三种类型的状语从句:although引导的让步状语从句,so that引导的目的状语从句和until引导的时间状语从句。
(1)although意为“尽管/虽然”,相当于though,用来引导让步状语从句。句中用了although或though,就不可再用but。若要强调前后两部分的对比意义,可在主句前加yet或still。 eg.Although/Though he has a lot of money,yet/still he is unhappy.他虽然有很多钱,但并不幸福。
(2)①so that意为“目的是/为的是/以便”,引导目的状语从句时,一般放在主句后,从句中通常含情态动词can,may,might等。eg.He got up very early so that he could catch the early bus.他起床很早,为的是能赶上早班公共汽车。 ②so that意为“以至于;结果”,引导结果状语从句,陈述的是客观事实,通常不带情态动词。 eg.He studied hard so that he passed the exam.他努力学习,结果通过了考试
⑶until意为“直到,在…之前”,肯定句中表示主句的动作发生在从句的动作之间,从句一般位于主句之后。 ⚠️注意until和not until在用法上的区别:在带有till或until引导的时间状语从句①如果主语是肯定句,其含义是“一直到…”,谓语动词只能用延续性动词 eg.I waited until 3:00,but he didn’t come.(wait 为延续性动词)我一直等到三点,但他没来 ②如果主句是否定句,其含义是“直到…才…”,谓语动词可用短暂性动词eg.I didn’t go to bed until my parents come back last night.(come back为短暂性动词)昨晚我直到我的父母回来才上床睡觉。
