when
表特定时点，主谓可发生在从谓动作前中后，从谓延续/非延续
When/While/As we were dancing, a strange came in.
延续性动词when/while/as同义
We were dancing when a strange came in.
从谓非延续只用when，表“那时”
When he had finished his homework, he took a short rest.
他写完作业之后，休息了一会儿.
while
表同时发生，含对比之义，从谓延续
Tom was sleeping while Mead was reading a book.
汤姆在睡觉而米德在看书。
as
表伴随发生，主谓与从谓动作同时发生或随即发生，从谓延续

as soon as
表"一...就..."，主谓在从谓动作发生后随即发生，从谓非延续
从谓用一般现在时代替一般将来时
As soon as he heard the news, he jumped with joy.

表“自从...”，从谓延续/非延续
从谓用一般过去时，主句用完成时或一般过去时
He has written to me regularly since he was ill.
自从病好以来，他定期给我来信。
从谓延续或表状态，时间从动作结束算起

until/till
表“直到...为止”，主句在前且表肯定时，从句可用till
You must stay here until/till you have finished the work.
你必须呆在这直到完成工作。
直到完成工作你才能离开这
主句肯定，主谓需延续，表“直到从句发生，主句动作就结束”
You can't leave here until you have finished the work.
完成工作后你才能离开这
你不能离开这直到完成工作。
主句否定，主谓需非延续，表“直到从句发生，主句动作才开始”
Not until you have finished the work can you leave here.
not until用于句首表强调，主句要部分倒装，表“直到从句发生，主句动作才开始”
before/after
He arrivd after the game started.
The game started before he arrived.
It+will/would+be+时间段+before...
强调时间，多长时间后才...
It will be two years before we finish this task.
It+will/would not+be+时间段+before...
强调时间，用不了多长时间就...

by the time
到某一时点止，主句常用完成时

because
表较强的因果关系，强调原因，常回答why

从属连词，引导从句
Tom didn't come to school, for he was ill.
并列连词，表推测原因
Tom was ill, so he didn't come to school.
并列连词，表自然结果
表不需要强调的原因，强调主句，常放句首
Since this method doesn't work, let's try another.

表在从句不利因素影响下，主句的情况依然存在
