  • 表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态 常和表示过去的时间状语连用，如yesterday, last night, in 1990, two days ago等
  • 表示过去经常或反复发生的动作或存在的状态 常和often, always等表示频度的状语连用
• 构成
  • 肯定式
    • I/He/She was at home yesterday. We/You/They were at home yesterday.
    • I/You/He/She/We/They worked in a school last year.
  • 否定式
    • I/He/She was not (wasn't) at home yesterday. We/You/They were not (weren't) at home yesterday.
    • I/You/He/She/We/They did not (didn't) work in a school last year.
  • 疑问式
    • Was I/he/she late yesterday?
      • Were you/we/you/they late yesterday?
    • Did I/you/he/she/we/you/they work last week?
  • 简略答语
    • Yes, I/he/she was. No, I/he/she was not (wasn't).
