  • The Recognition of Necrosis
    • Many of the changes by which necrosis is recognised occur after cell death
    • karyolysis
      • change the result of hydrolysis of chromatin within the cell after its death
    • pyknosis
      • the chromatin of necrotic cells, especially those with already dense chromatin forms dense haematoxylinophilic masses
    • Electron microscopy of cells which have undergone necrosis shows severe disorganisation of structure
